We are Terapolis, a San Francisco–based design studio with a cheerful spirit and a thoughtful way of seeing things.
Founded in 2008 by Andrei and Elina Nadar on the values of collaboration, respect, and curiosity, our focus for design always lies in creating environments that blend beauty with purpose, enhancing lives and fostering well-being.
Our approach is a constant pursuit of mutual exchange with the client. Starting with listening, observing, and fully immersing ourselves, we then, based on what we learn, reimagine, reshape, and tailor the environment to ensure the client feels truly cared for. We treat the design process as a service that harmonizes art with practical need.
OUR STORY
We hold Master’s degrees in Architecture, which gave us an overall aesthetic feel, our foundational approach to design, that is deeply rooted in the principled European traditions of art and architecture.
The term Terapolis was first conceptualized at that time during our diploma studies. It hails from our broader theoretical work, which delved into forward-thinking architectural solutions for uncertain global futures. It combines Tera (a prefix meaning trillion, symbolizing scale and ambition) with Polis (Greek for city or town).
We love clean lines in spacious well well-organized places decorated with playful accents and tactile textures, places that make you feel excited and comfortable. The success for us is seeing someone light up when they feel the connection between their dream and the outcome they love.
THE CHANGE
Having forged our expertise over many years of practice in Russia, we were faced with a pivotal choice in 2022. Little did we anticipate such a profound shift. Though our progress was abruptly interrupted, our core spirit of independence remained. It has since guided us to the vibrant land of California, where we continue to create, transform, and dream.
